Launching PoP’s Education Response Fund: Building the Road Beyond

At Pencils of Promise, we know education is beyond the four walls of a classroom. We are committed not only to building school infrastructure but also to creating environments where students can truly learn and thrive.

When students return to school following this uncertain time, the need for Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) — to feel seen, heard and prepared to learn — will be at an all-time high.

We are proud to have been implementing SEL strategies in PoP’s programming since 2016, which equips teachers with the resources they need to ensure students will be supported upon reopening schools.

SEL has been shown to:

  • Create a sense of belonging in the classroom
  • Improve students’ attention
  • Build community among classmates
  • Increase listening and learning abilities
  • Create effective classroom routines
  • Motivate students to be involved and paying attention

Students will be returning to school after enduring trauma, disruption and unrest. As we continue to navigate this difficult time together, we find solace in knowing students and teachers in PoP communities will be equipped to overcome obstacles upon returning to school through the compassion and effectiveness of SEL strategies.

Across the globe, the importance of sanitation and hygiene has been key in fighting the virus that has impacted each of us. Our critical Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) program provides clean water access and helps students learn healthy handwashing habits.

The combination of WASH and SEL will help PoP build the road beyond COVID-19.

But we can’t do it without you.

We need your help. Today, we are excited to announce the launch of our Education Response Fund: Building the Road Beyond.

The critical funds raised through this grassroots effort will help us build the road beyond this pandemic, in our ongoing dedication to provide access to quality education around the globe.

As we adapt to the reality of postponing and canceling in-person fundraising events, we turn to virtual solutions and the generosity of supporters like you. By making a gift to the Education Response Fund, you can support students and teachers both during the crisis and when it is time to return to the classroom.

Make an immediate impact today by visiting the Education Response Fund: Building the Road Beyond.
