Why Teacher Support?
We stand behind the belief that students will perform better if classrooms are led by enthusiastic, inspired and well-trained teachers. To ensure students are receiving a high-quality education, we provide public primary school teachers with training and innovative resources, enhancing the delivery of national curriculum and empowering them to lead dynamic and effective lessons.
A critical component to a successful educational experience is the facilitation of learning in a welcoming and encouraging environment. Pencils of Promise integrates Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) into the core of our Teacher Support program, as our ethos is centered around encouraging learning environments where primary students can thrive and be set up with skills to succeed.
DIGITAL LEARNING
We equip classrooms with e-readers so that teachers and students have access to hundreds of culturally relevant and age-appropriate e-books that would otherwise be inaccessible for most. In providing e-readers, students are also learning to utilize technology, broadening the learning experience well beyond the classroom.
TEACHER Workshops
Teacher Workshops are held throughout the year to provide teachers with new and innovative methodologies that help improve the effectiveness of their teaching. The group setting of workshops allows teachers to build an informal network of peers across the country, encouraging professional development and the exchange of ideas.
Coaching Sessions
Coaching Sessions are held in between Teacher Workshops to provide teachers with proper support in implementing the most up-to-date strategies and lessons. Each session is personalized and tailored to the teacher so that feedback is both constructive and helpful.
EVALUATE & ITERATE
We consistently measure the outcomes of our core and pilot programs to help us make strategic programmatic decisions moving forward. By analyzing both quantitative data (student test scores) and qualitative data (interviews and observations), we’re able to track student and teacher achievement, share progress with communities and evaluate the effectiveness of our programs.

Our long-term vision is that our holistic model will be fully adopted and incrementally scaled by Ghanaian, Guatemalan and Lao education systems beyond their partnership with PoP.
