For the last 14 years, Pencils of Promise has been empowering communities through education in Ghana, Guatemala, and Laos. We believe that every child should have access to quality education.
Our Pathway to Promise
A quality education not only includes a safe school building, well trained teachers, and access to classroom materials, but also an opportunity to play and learn. This will ensure holistic development for children in school.
Why Pre Kindergarten?
Across Ghana, Guatemala and Laos, nursery education opportunities are rare in rural communities. This directly results in children who are not prepared for primary school.
This intervention will extend PoP’s successful kindergarten programs down to the nursery level, bringing access to quality early education to thousands of new students.
Our model leverages the foundation of play-based learning, focusing on the child’s interest to help build social and cognitive skills, and infuses it with key principles of Social and Emotional Learning.
The ultimate goal of scaling this holistic learning model to younger children is to increase their enjoyment and engagement with school so that more students will complete primary school.
