Current population of Na Fai

When our team first visited Na Fai preschool and primary school, they found students studying in a dilapidated structure made of wood and corrugated metal. The wooden panels that covered the building showed signs of deterioration, evidenced by discoloration from mold and water marks. Similarly, the roof had corroded and was red with rust. Inside, students had difficulty reading and writing, given the lack of natural light coming in through classroom windows that had been barricaded for structural reinforcement. Furthermore, classroom conversations easily flowed through the school’s thin internal walls that failed to reach the ceiling, making it difficult for students to concentrate.

You recognized that these conditions were not conducive to learning and responded by helping PoP and the Na Fai community break ground on a new school. Teachers, parents and community members were dedicated and committed to the project, contributing up to 20 percent of resources and labor. After three months, we mounted the plaque, concluding tireless work to build a three-classroom school equipped with ceiling fans, blackboards, benches, desks, doors, walls and windows. You made this school build possible, creating a safe and strong structural foundation that will allow the students in Na Fai to learn and realize their potential and their promise.
