Meet Penn State’s PoP Club: they’re making big strides toward even bigger goals

  • June 8, 2017

Students at Penn State University have joined forces at their PoP Club to work with local businesses, hold fundraising events and reach out to friends, family and corporate sponsors. They’re fundraising and campaigning all to contribute to PoP’s mission of providing more children across the globe with access to a quality education.

The PSU PoP Club President, Cali, shared with us that her passions for philanthropy and profound love for education sprung from her middle school years when she spent most of her leisurely time in the library of her school. She was able to find her perfect escape in learning and reading tons of books from the thousands that were on her school library’s bookshelves. Reading was the absolute best part of her day.

The members of the PSU PoP Club recognize that most children aren’t as fortunate as they were, in terms of gaining access to a high caliber education, and that education is hard to come by in many parts of the world. That’s one of the reasons why Cali now runs this PoP club at Penn State, with both pride and conviction, to campaign and energize those around her to ensure that more kids around the globe have access to the same fulfilling education that she did.

Just last semester, the PSU PoP Club reached $6,000 for the PoP Ghana e-reader program. These efforts provided a full classroom of 3rd-grade students access to over 150 books in English and local languages. Imagine all of the unlocked potential!

Being part of a larger goal is why these Penn State students are so dedicated to their involvement with PoP. They share the belief that the hard work and long campaign hours come to their true meaning in the rewarding outcome of making a real difference in the lives of so many children. Not to mention PSU PoP Club, born only 4 short years ago, has HUGE PoP goals: to reach $35,000 in order to break ground and build a PoP school.

Every PSU club meeting kicks off with PoP Founder, Adam Braun’s motto: “This club believes that a generation empowered with empower the world.” WE ARE.
