Why School Builds?
85% of the communities we visit lack basic infrastructure. We believe that a quality learning environment is critical to increasing student attendance, engagement and overall literacy outcomes—so we build schools to ensure that all of our students have access to a safe and healthy place to learn.
1. SCOUT COMMUNITIES
Before we build a school, we work alongside local governments and education ministries to identify potential partner communities with a high need for safe and reliable infrastructure.
2. ESTABLISH PARTNERSHIPS
We establish partnerships with communities who are deeply committed to their children’s education. We then work closely with each community to best understand their needs and properly provide support.
3. BUILD TOGETHER
Each community commits to contributing up to 20% to a school build through both labor and materials, such as sand, gravel and water. Together, we build a new school over the course of several months.
4. PROVIDE ONGOING SUPPORT
A school build is only the start of a transformative education experience. We don’t just build and leave, we maintain a relationship with each community to ensure the longevity and sustainability of each school build, and overall education outcomes of our students.
